TT&H Attorney Nicholas Schaufelberger Wins Auto Accident Case in Maryland’s Howard County District Court
May 25, 2021
TT&H Attorney Nicholas Schaufelberger recently won a contested auto accident case in Howard County, Maryland, as Maryland reopens in-person trials. Nick’s client, a company who employed truck drivers to drive dump trucks, owned a truck that hit the Plaintiff’s car. The action involved conflicting testimony as to how the accident occurred. According to the Plaintiff, she was stopped at a red light at an intersection when the Defendant’s driver, who was in the left lane of the road, made a simultaneous right turn and side-swiped her. For his part, the Defendant’s driver claimed that he was at the red light first and that the road had only one lane. He further stated that he did not see the Plaintiff at all, who he believed pulled into his truck’s blind spot after he stopped.
At trial, the Plaintiff introduced some twelve different exhibits and presented testimony from four witnesses. She claimed over $12,000.00 in medical expenses and lost wages. Ultimately, the Judge agreed with the Defendant’s version of the events, concluding that the Plaintiff impermissibly pulled up next to the Defendant’s truck and caused the accident.
