Joanne J. Lee is an associate in Thomas, Thomas & Hafer’s Washington, D.C. office where she handles various civil litigation matters. She mainly focuses on personal injury cases, including auto and premises liability, as well as construction defect and other general liability matters. Joanne is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts for both the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Prior to joining Thomas, Thomas & Hafer, Joanne was a Senior Associate at another firm in Washington, D.C., where she handled a variety of personal injury matters and was selected as one of Washington, D.C.’s “Top 40 Under 40” with The National Trial Lawyers in 2023. Given this prior experience, she is able to gain a deeper understanding of her current cases and uses her knowledge to develop trial strategies to better serve her clients. Joanne is particularly experienced in handling a high-volume caseload and is well-versed in every stage of the litigation process.
Joanne graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in Maryland, where she was heavily involved in litigation practice. Her passion for trial work developed there, as she was a member of the National Trial Competition team and actively participated in different trial advocacy classes. Joanne also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Barry G. Williams in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, and at the Office of Special Masters within the United States Court of Federal Claims. In her last year of law school, Joanne worked as a student attorney at the Office of the Public Defenders in Baltimore City District Court and has worked on numerous criminal cases for defendants with limited income. She simultaneously worked as a law clerk at a mid-sized civil litigation firm in Baltimore, where she worked on various automobile accident, products liability, and medical malpractice cases for one of the firm’s named partners.
Joanne obtained her undergraduate degree from George Mason University, with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Law and Society. She is currently an active member of Phi Alpha Delta, Fraternity International, LaBrum Chapter, and a former member of the George Mason University Pre-Law Chapter.
