Robert P. Lynch is a partner in Thomas, Thomas & Hafer’s Washington, D.C. office, and is a member of the firm’s general liability practice group.
Mr. Lynch is a life-long Bethesda, Maryland resident and a 1977 graduate of the Landon School. Mr. Lynch attended Villanova University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History in 1981. He then attended St. Mary’s University Law School in San Antonio, Texas and received his law degree in 1985.
Following graduation, Mr. Lynch worked as an associate at a DC firm where he focused on corporate formation of nationwide Health Maintenance Organizations. In 1987, he went to work for the American Trucking Associations (“ATA”) where he rose to become the Executive Director of the National Freight Claims Council. At ATA, Mr. Lynch also served as a national guest speaker for groups whose drivers would be affected by the implementation of the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). ATA was instrumental in the successful implementation of this nationwide safety initiative.
Mr. Lynch’s legal experience at the firm has covered a broad range of civil litigation including race and employment discrimination, premises liability, automobile negligence and insurance coverage issues related to the leased vehicle industry. Mr. Lynch has been cited by Super Lawyers and was recently listed in America’s Top 100 Civil Defense Litigators.
Mr. Lynch is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (1985), the District of Columbia Bar Association (1989), the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia (1991), the Maryland Bar Association (2018) and most recently, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (2021).
